things to do SATURDAY 3/13/2010

I'm extremely pumped up for this show! The Strange Boys, Harlem, and Brooklyn's Blair...for free! Yup, two of Austins biggest and best bands at the moment are putting on a show to be enjoyed by even the poorest of the poor! Well, as long as they've got enough googlewebz access to RSVP. The show starts at 8:00pm and I suggest showing up early if you want to get in on the fun, because Red Eyed Fly is gonna be PACKED, straight up! Aquarium Drunkard and Knuckle Rumbler, you too good to us!

Hey, you see the flyer (which took me like an hour to track down!)! A free show by The Walkmen at Stubbs tonight! Doors at 7:00pm, better get there early!

Well, it may not be free, but its fucking Xiu Xiu! The show will be opened by Jonathan Meiburg of Shearwater and Noveller. Its all happening at Red 7 for $12.

As if free alcohol and free taco beezy wasn't enough to get you out to the Pure Volume House, io9 and Gawker have decided to bring in the nerds! I'm not being a dick, MC Frontalot like invented "Nerdcore". The party also has either a band named "Stormtroopers" or there might just be some Stormtroopers up in this piece.
Pure Volume House located at 504 Trinity St.

Seeing as how Lamebook launched a little under a year ago, I'd say this party is appropriately titled. The Lamebook Unofficial SXSW and Really Late Launch Party has got a massive local lineup of bands and DJs, it even features free bbq and Lone Star Beer! It kicks off on the eastside at Shangri-La at 6:00pm, a.k.a. earlier den a mugg. Remember there's a $3 cover, even with RSVP.

Our friends Deejay Yay Yay and Dubbel Dutch are amongst the competitors in this AMODA Digital Showcase Laptop Battle. Those two will fucking kill it, guaranteed. Since this is a digital showcase by the Austin Museum of Digital Art the party will feature visuals by artists from all over the world. They've got all the necessary components for a crunk dance party. $8 at Club DeVille.

Hypersonic Radio DJ Toddy B. is playing house music jams up on the roof of Speakeasy tonight. I'm not sure if there's a cover or not, but this dude is one hell of a DJ.

You better RSVP in a goddamn jiffy, if you want to enjoy The Boxer Rebellion, Tyler James, The Exchange, and an open bar ALL FOR FREE! It can all be yours if you hit up The Phoenix tonight.

DJ Simple Simon has been slaying the Barcelona dance floor for an entire year now! Whether its been with those Swerve dudes Bird Peterson and Go Go Garcia or under his other alias Prepmode, the dance floor has stayed packed. Happy anniversary!

Every Saturday Night Barbarella hosts one of my favorite dance parties in the city. New Noise! its named after a song by the amazing Refused aaaand its playlist consists of the likes of Hot Chip, Vampire Weekend, Late of the Pier, and so on. $2 PBRs and videos ta boot!

Oh shit! DJ Johnny Bravvo is celebrating his 30th b-day at Saba Blue Water Cafe tonight! DJ Gmau will be spinning the party times excellent. Go say happy birth to Johnny and do some dancin' too.

All I have to say is, free laser pointers. Boom! Yeah, those fools at The Highball know how to party!!!! DJ Fuckin' A will be spinning this "Sci Fi-Party".
